Finding My Flow: How Canna Yoga Became Part of My Practice

Updated: May 23

What started as a gentle experiment with movement and cannabis has become one of my most trusted ways to slow down and listen inward. I started exploring cannabis yoga a few years ago, and it's become one of my favorite ways to reconnect with my body and slow my mind.

For me, consuming a little cannabis before stepping onto the mat softens the edges of the day. It quiets the mental chatter and helps me drop into a deeper, more intuitive practice. Studies suggest cannabis may enhance interoception — the ability to feel what's happening inside your body — and I notice that firsthand. Everything feels a little more fluid. A little more alive.

Sometimes, I love making up my own flow based on how I'm feeling, but other days, I'll queue up a video on YouTube or go into a local studio. Two of my favorite teachers lately are Sarah Wes, whose Kemetic-inspired, breath-rich practices help me root into the present moment with such reverence, and Yoga With Adriene, whose warm, inclusive energy reminds me that yoga can be both meaningful and playful — a daily act of self-kindness rather than perfection. Their styles remind me that yoga doesn't have to look a certain way to be healing. It's about tuning in, not performing.

Practicing outside takes it to a whole other level. Feeling the sun on my skin, breathing with the breeze, and hearing birds in the background make me feel rooted and expansive simultaneously. Nature amplifies the sense of calm and connection that canna yoga brings.

That's why I'm so excited to invite you to our Grassroots Yoga Sessions — an outdoor cannabis-friendly yoga series we're hosting in Bozeman this summer. Each class includes a mellow pre-class sesh, a gentle 60-minute flow, and a post-class moment to ground, snack, and connect in community. It's a space to move slowly, breathe deeply, and honor your body in the sweet Montana summer air.

If this sounds like your kind of summer afternoon, find more information here and reserve your spot. 🌿

I'd love to flow with you under the beautiful Montana sky.
